Episode 6

Last week’s episode left us with about a million unanswered questions, and now, through the magic of YouTube, we finally get to discover the answers…

– How will Alamela’s elimination impact the atmosphere of the rest of the house?
– Will Caris ever be able to get a grip?
– Has Leiden finally found her groove?
– What’s up with the double-elimination that’s been hinted at in the previews?
– What will be their overseas location?
– Who will go on to be Australia’s Next Top Model?

So, today’s episode opens with the mixed reactions to Alamela’s departure… some are sad (Caris), while others aren’t (Alyce & Demelza)… surprise, surprise.

Jodhi Mail!
The girls are greeted by some dancers on their lawn with a Jodhi mail. And they assumed that (like BNTM this week) they would also be put through some sort of dance trial by fire.

Side Note #1 – These extravagant “surprise” Jodhi mails are a bit ridiculous, but they far beat the completely idiotic scrolling board that Tyra used this season.

Side Note #2 – Why is it that models need to know how to dance? Seriously?

Side Note #3 – I also think it’s hysterical that ANTM girls get limos, but worse photo shoots; while AusNTM girls get vans, but better photo shoots. Oh, the irony.

So, the model wannabes meet a couple of dancers (sorry, I don’t know dancers or their names)… one who was one of the dancing penguins on Happy Feet.

Side Note #4: Has anyone seen that movie? I must say, I was not impressed. For those that haven’t seen it… combine West Side Story with March of the Penguins, add a half hour EPA commercial to the middle of it, and you’ve got Happy Feet.

They proceed to put on their fluffy pink tutus and leotards. Leiden hated it and had a pretty awful attitude about the whole thing, and even stopped halfway through. Wow, what a slap in the face to the instructor. Yikes.

Then, they change to hip-hop gear… because, you know, you can’t hip-hop in a tutu. And Rebecca went a little crazy with the hip movement. That girl seems to me to have serious “I want to be sexy” issues. So, they practiced some Voguing and Leiden needed her hand held throughout the whole thing because she didn’t feel like she wanted to be there (a la ANTM’s Kimberly c10). As much as Tyra’s whole “Fine, then leave” thing with Kimberly seemed a bit harsh at the time, this is the second time that Leiden’s admitted that she doesn’t want to be there, and they just keep giving her hugs and compliments and encouragement. For some reason, I like Tyra’s approach better.

Their challenge is to choreograph a routine in pairs, which actually sounds like fun. The groups are Alexandra and Leiden; Demelza and Samantha; Jamie and Alyce; and Caris and Rebecca. I felt horribly for poor Alexandra because she was paired with “I-really-don’t-care-and-don’t-want-to-be-doing-this-anyways” Leiden. Her attitude is really wearing on me. Go home, Leiden, go home.

Jodhi Mail
Oh boy. A bunch of balls come falling down the stairs. How shocking. Meh.

Jonathan met them for the challenge and told them that they would be parading the new line of Levi’s jeans with choreography. For as sexy as Demelza comes off in photographs, it seems that in real life, she’s quite awkward around guys, probably at least in part because of her age, being only 16 years old. Jamie, on the other hand, looked fabulous, and Alyce was also highly praised for her performance. They were the two challenge winners for the day and had the opportunity to appear in a music video for Seany B (whoever that is) with two friends (they chose Rebecca and Samantha).

So the girls set out the next morning to film the video clip, and the girls that didn’t win got their faces painted green with bright red lips. Alyce and Demelza got into a bit of a tiff, but it didn’t really seem like a big deal.

Side Note #5 – I may be completely nuts here, but for some reason whenever Caris talks in the one-on-one time, she totally reminds me of Pam from the TV show “The Office.” They seem to have similar personalities. Fortunately for her, I think Pam rocks.

On another note, Leiden has a disgustingly long tongue. The four winners had to “act hot, which was easy,” according to Samantha. And Rebecca and Alyce showed their not-so-professional side by flirting with Seany B and accepting an invite into his dressing room. Um… ew.

So… back at the house, Alexandra plays a “prank” on the other girls by making horribly fattening desserts and telling the girls it’s low-fat and healthy. Now that’s just low… any way you look at it, that’s just low.

Jodhi Mail!
And now it’s time for their photo shoot of the week. Hoorah.

And they get to work with male models and it turns into a gigglefest for Alyce and Demelza. And this is why I don’t normally watch TV shows with 16-17 year old girls on them. They’re just boys… they don’t have cooties. Get over it already.

The photo shoot was meant to be fresh, simple, and innocent… while modeling Peter Alexander’s pajamas. And more giggling/shrieking ensues.

Highlights:
Leiden went first and they thought she did fairly well
Caris thrilled the designer, which is always a good sign
Alexandra (who reminds me of Rachael from BNTM4) fell into one look over and over again. Jonathan mentioned that it’s because her lips are “enhanced” — wholey moley! I’d not have expected that from her
Alyce had major issues trying to relax, and they later commented on her weight (is Alexandra’s evil ploy working?)
Rebecca also did not do well… she could not get herself together and the designer said she needed to lose some weight (again, Alexandra’s plan is working?)… and he walked off set. Oooooh… looks bad for Rebecca
Samantha was the one girl chosen to pose topless, and she handled it professionally, which impressed the designer.
Jamie had a tough pose, and they seemed to hold her up to a higher standard because she is a dancer
Demelza was complimented on her naturally gorgeous looks, as well as for doing well on a photo shoot with two male models.

Judging panel highlights:
– The girls got to show off their dance routines… hilarious. The way they filmed it totally confused me because they spliced clips of each group’s routine in with the other routines, so it was a bit hard to tell who was really doing well.
– Poor Rebecca has been gaining inches around her hips. No more cookies for you!
– Poor Alyce also was criticized for putting on a little weight. No more cupcakes for you!

Jodhi announces that they’ll be going to a tropical destination and that two girls would be eliminated.
Call-out order:
1. Caris (whoo hoo! a well-deserved win!)
2. Demelza
3. Samantha
4. Alexandra
5. Rebecca (huh? seriously? why is that girl still here?)
6. Alyce
7. Leiden & Jamie – eliminated

As glad as I was to see Leiden finally go, I was really disappointed that Jamie left, too, especially considering how much I thought she’s improved over the past few weeks. Leiden obviously didn’t want to be there, and her attitude totally bugged me… but Jamie was probably one of the sweetest girls in the house, so I’m a bit sad that she went.

Next week… beaches, bikinis, and another tough elimination. Who will it be next?
